Jonas didn’t just keep a film diary of his life and those of his contemporaries. He is also a very significant organiser and tastemaker of the independent film scene in New York, writing for and publishing magazines, setting up distribution networks, screening the films that enthused him and founding a home for the major works of the American avant-garde, Anthology Film, Archives.
